It’s no surprise that it took just 90 minutes to sell 32,000 tickets for UFC 198 when tickets went on sale March 30. Amazingly, that’s more than 350 tickets per minute for one of the best fight cards Brazil has ever seen.
Scheduled to take place at the 45,000-seat outdoor Arena de Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil on May 14, UFC 198 headlines Fabricio Werdum vs. Stipe Miocic in a heavyweight championship fight and is stacked with some of Brazil’s most popular fighters to include: Anderson Silva, Vitor Belfort and Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua.
The UFC recently announced the addition of Curitiba native Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Justino to the card. Her appearance will mark her UFC debut against Leslie Smith at a catchweight fight at 140 lbs.
At a press conference May 30, UFC General Manager in Brazil, Giovani Decker said, “It was a dream come true having an event in this stadium and it’s going to be a big success…May 14th will be a legendary card, a legendary event that I’m sure will be for many years in everyone’s memory.”
