Betting Odds: UFC Fight Night 94: Poirier vs. Johnson

The State Farm Arena hosts the UFC’s first event in Hidalgo, Texas on September 17, a card that features No. 7-ranked Dustin “Diamond” Poirier vs. No. 10-ranked Michael “The Menace” Johnson in a lightweight showdown.

Poirier is the betting favorite (-160) over Johnson (+150) and comes into the fight riding a four-fight winning streak, with three KO/TKOs and one decision among those four fights (against Carlos Diego Ferreira, Yancy Medeiros, Joseph Duffy and Bobby Green). His last loss was to Conor McGregor at UFC 178. Poirier has a nice percentage of averages in his wins with 50% KO/TKO, 30% submissions and 20% decisions, with an  impressive 51% striking accuracy.

Johnson, in his own right, has been in the fight game for eight years and is coming off a Fight of the Night performance loss to Nate Diaz at UFC on Fox 17 in December 2015.  With Johnson coming off two losses (the other to Beneil Dariush at UFC Fight Night 73), he’s looking to make a statement that he deserves to stay in the Top 10 of the UFC’s lightweight division as a third loss in a row could stall his success.

UFC middleweights No. 9-ranked Uriah Hall and No. 10-ranked Derek Brunson face off in a middleweight showdown in the event’s co-main event.

Brunson enters the co-main event as the betting favorite (-200) against Hall (+185) and is riding a four-fight winning streak with wins over: Lorenz Larkin, Ed Herman, Sam Alvey and Roan Carneiro. His last loss was a Fight of the Night performance against Yoel Romero at UFC Fight Night 35 in 2014.

Hall is 2-2 in  his last four fights with TKO wins over Gegard Mousasi and Oluwale Bamgbose and decision losses over Robert Whittaker and Rafael Natal. Even though Hall is currently ranked as the No. 9 middleweight in the UFC, he is looking for a win to improve his 5-4 in the UFC.
