UFC 206 – December 10, 2016
Air Canada Centre, T
oronto, Canada

Another unfortunate pre-fight injury for Daniel Cormier has forced the UFC light heavyweight champion out of his UFC contest against top contender Anthony Johnson just days before the fight. In another twist, the UFC has announced that Conor McGregor has vacated the UFC featherweight title due to the length of time he has held the belt but not defended it. This makes way for the last-minute replacement headliner which now features Max Holloway and former champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis for the UFC interim featherweight title.

The new main card pits No. 5-ranked featherweight Holloway against former UFC lightweight champion Pettis, who is currently ranked No. 10 in the UFC featherweight division. Pettis comes off a submission win over Charles Oliveira at UFC on Fox 21 preceded by three consecutive losses (to Edson Barboza, Eddie Alvarez and Rafael dos Anjos, respectively) while Holloway rides in with a nine-fight winning streak over the past two years. This one will be a fight of wills, where one man looks to climb back up to the top of the UFC ladder and the other is determined to stay.

Ever-exciting Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Matt Brown are sure to delight fans in the co-main even where these two hungry welterweights will give every ounce of blood and sweat for a win. Cowboy’s pace is unmatched but Brown is no slouch either. Where Cerrone excels in submission and aggression, so does Brown in the standup. Look for this fight to possibly outshadow the others with the excitement factor.
